Small Groups
The first place we naturally feel comfortable is with our friends and natural relationships. Starting a group with people who know each other is so much easier than starting with a group of strangers. However, people are looking to be connected and we must be willing to step out of our comfort zones to grow relationships – especially spiritual relationships. We must be willing to share what we learn with those around us. If we continue to only feed ourselves we get “fat” but if we exercise what we are learning and what the original church intended we get “fit”. That way not only are we healthier but the whole church body is healthier as shown in Acts – “And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
1. How can small groups help me improve my spiritual life?
Small groups are a great way for you to develop and connect to a community of believers who provide you with one-on-one support to grow spiritually. It is also a great way to ensure that you are continually fed with the Word of God in an intimate setting that allows you to ask questions and participate in different ways which help you develop a deeper understanding of the Word and its application in your daily life.
2. Do I have time to be in a small group? What is the time commitment? How often do small groups meet?
Small groups usually meet once a week for about two hours at a time. Meetings are available most days of the week.
3. Where do they meet?
Small groups usually meet in any one of the members’ homes.
4. How are the groups formed?
The information you provide when signing up for a group helps us place you in a small group of people with whom you share a lot of similarities including, age group, marital status, location and best days of the week to meet.
5. How do I sign up? What information should I include about me when signing up?
You can sign up by completing the Small Group Sign Up Sheet, available at the Church reception desk or by clicking on the sign up link above and sending the completed form to Jeana Mushriqui at jeana.mushriqui@gmail.com. The more information you include, the better the chances are of matching you to a group that shares your interests.
6. Do I need to sign up if I’m already in a small group?
Yes. Some existing small groups will continue to meet and some new groups will be formed. If you are currently in a small group and want to continue meeting with that group, please let us know by completing the appropriate section when signing up.
7. What are the deadlines?
All sign ups must be received by Monday, September 29, 2008, so make sure you sign up as soon as possible!
